We often have a few ex-lease computers in stock which are good spare computers for training rooms or temporary use or general computing. These are normally desktop cases, Pentium 4 or Celeron based machines with 0.5 – 1 GB ram, 40 or 80GB hard drives and a standard motherboard. Mostly HP brand machines. Refurbished and second hand machines I give a one year warranty with. They are well suited to checking email, browsing the web, doing some documents and spreadsheets, downloading photos from a digital camera and general computer stuff. People tend to hold on to laptops and LCD until they die completely so there isn't so much turnover like there is with desktop computers. We often do have 2nd hand 15in LCD but it's a pretty small screen size to look at. An example laptop that we had in recently was: HP Compaq nc6220 Bear in mind that the batteries in these laptops are usually not lasting too well and they have likely been used a fair bit, taken to meetings and all the usual things that business people do with laptops. You can get a new laptop from around $700 and up depending on what specials are going at places like JB hifi, DickSmith etc. |
The stock of second hand computers varies weekly. Usually we have a few refurbished computers in stock. Refurbished machines usually have the second hand mainboard, CPU and RAM, in a new case and power supply with new DVD burner and hard drive.
