I own and operate Newcastle Infotech and Jezweb from my home office at 5 Cowper St, Wallsend. As well as computer servicing I have a few web designers, programmers and graphic designers that work on a casual basis depending on how busy we are with websites and internet marketing.
I’m currently studying IT (computers, internet and business information systems) at the University of Newcastle which is close to home. My experience with computers is predominantly hands on, beginning in the mid 1990’s through to present day. The advent of affordable broadband and smart search engines has made troubleshooting a much more precise activity. There is a huge wealth of Q & A and computer technical forums on the net that the computer guru’s of the world contribute to.
From 2000 – 2003 I worked for OzEmail Internet in their technical support department. It was a time when the bulk of internet users had begun to transition from ADSL to dialup. There were lots of problems in the beginning and it gave me a very good grounding in all things web, internet, ADSL and networking. The training provided for the business services such as domains, IP addressing and routing was excellent. From there I was motivated to make the hobby computer business I had into a full time occupation and have been doing so ever since.
During 2008 I undertook a few months of training with Telstra in their network configuration, phone line connection and cabling customer service department in Newcastle which gave an interesting insight into the workings of the phone network and a helpful addition to my experience with ADSL.

I update my blog with occasional snippets of computer news, good freebies and stuff that we're working on, here. |
